GENEVA, September 18. /TASS/. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) member states evaded difficult discussions aimed at finding a consensus by failing to approve new technical resolutions outlining the organization’s key yearly priorities, a source in Russia’s delegation told TASS.

"With diplomacy at a difficult – if not turning – point, many countries for various reasons preferred to evade difficult discussions and efforts to find a consensus. Instead, they chose to hide behind the easier option of an illusion of it (consensus). In fact, this means a lack of final technical resolutions of the General Conference on the key aspects of the agency’s activities," the source said, adding that rather than adopting new technical resolutions, the IAEA General Conference had extended the existing ones.

Earlier, Russia’s permanent mission to international organizations in Vienna posted a statement on Telegram saying that the IAEA General Conference had failed to agree on any of its five traditional resolutions.
