ARKHANGELSK, August 13. /TASS/. Ideas for a possible moratorium on hostilities in the Black Sea are being communicated through various channels, but Russia has not received any formal proposals on the matter, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told journalists.

"Recently, we have heard many calls for various moratoriums and ceasefires. These ideas are being voiced through various channels, but we are not receiving any formal proposals," he said.

Grushko also pointed out that Russia's position on "temporary methods of easing the military situation is well known." "No peace can be achieved without addressing the root causes of the conflict. Any ceasefires will be used by the Ukrainian side to regroup and build up its forces - for purposes entirely unrelated to finding a lasting peace settlement," the Russian deputy foreign minister stressed.

Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Ankara was closely monitoring the security of navigation in the Black Sea and had put forward a proposal to the parties to the Ukrainian conflict for a moratorium on military action.
