Russian ambassador slams Canada’s new sanctions as empty posturing

According to Oleg Stepanov, Prime Minister Mark Carney’s office understands "that such actions have no practical significance"

WASHINGTON, August 10. /TASS/. Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov has slammed Ottawa’s new sanctions as nothing but empty posturing.

"Yet another batch of sanctions from Ottawa can only be ridiculous. Prime Minister Mark Carney’s office understands that such actions have no practical significance. And they know that Russia pays no attention to them. It’s just empty posturing. Nothing new," he told TASS.

Earlier in the day, Canada imposed sanctions on armored vehicle manufacturer Streit Group over its alleged ties to Russia. The document claims that Streit Group's products are being utilized in the special military operation in Ukraine. According to the company's website, the manufacturer is headquartered in the United Arab Emirates.
