MOSCOW, August 10. /TASS/. The Russian Supreme Court has ruled to uphold a petition by the Rodina party to disqualify the Yabloko party from the upcoming elections to the Russian parliament’s lower chamber, the State Duma.

Russian Supreme Court ruling

- The Russian Supreme Court upheld the Rodina party’s claim.

Supporting evidence

- The Yabloko party has received funding from foreign sources, a representative of Russia’s Centrla Election Commission (CEC) has told the court.

- Besides, Rodina submitted to the judge documents from the Federal Financial Monitoring Service of the Russian Federation (Rosfinmonitoring) to prove its claim.

- According to the watchdog, the Yabloko party received funds from the United States and Germany via intermediaries.

Yabloko party’s objections

- The Yabloko party refutes Rodina's petition as lacking legal grounds.

- Party Chairman Nikolay Rybakov told the court that "all documents have been checked by the CEC, and the decision to clear [the party for the upcoming polls] was unanimous."

- In his words, the party has undergone multiple inspections by the Justice Ministry, and no violations were found.

- Rybakov described Rodina’s accusations as baseless and unfounded.

- In his words, the only reason Rodina put forward its petition was because it didn't agree with Yabloko's politics.

Rodina petition

- The request to annul the registration of Yabloko’s federal list of candidates for State Duma seats was submitted to the Supreme Court on August 7.

- According to Rodina’s request obtained by TASS, Yabloko committed a number of violations while campaigning. Certain publications in its support were disseminated by foreign agents and released via foreign social networks, with payments for that coming not from the party’s electoral fund.

- The petition also says that the party has committed numerous violations of pre·election legislation, including at the stage of nomination and registration. Rodina said that 218 out of 269 candidates on the Yabloko list submitted notifications stating that they had no foreign accounts or assets between June 20 and June 26, 2026, while the party’s pre·election congress was held on June 27-28.

- Besides, Rodina said that it had found out that Yabloko exceeded the limits of election campaign financing established by law.

- It also reportedly found violations during election campaigning, including those related to the use of copyrights, as well as circumstances that the plaintiff supports LGBT-related extremist activities.
