ISTANBUL, August 10. /TASS/. Two Russian Be-200 amphibious aircraft are helping Turkey to fight forest fires, the Russian embassy in Ankara said.

"Russian specialists have been actively involved in fighting forest fires over the past few years. The crews of two unique Be-200 amphibious aircraft are providing effective support to their Turkish colleagues by carrying out difficult operations to extinguish fires from the air. This collaboration, which has become a good tradition, is yet another example of practical cooperation between Russia and Turkey, which is based on the principles of mutual assistance and good-neighborliness," it said.

Thanks to the selfless efforts of firefighting and rescue services, as well as volunteer teams, the wildfire situation is being kept under control, it noted. "This makes it possible to reduce to minimum safety threats to Turkey’s numerous guests," the embassy added.

According to official data, more than 3,200 wildfires were registered in Turkey in 2025, with more than 81,000 hectares of forests being totally or partially destroyed.
