MOSCOW, August 6. /TASS/. Russia expects international organizations to respond to a Ukrainian drone strike on a gallery at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) connecting the power units, Russian Foreign Ministry Information and Press Department Deputy Director Alexey Fadeev said at a briefing.

"On August 1, a Ukrainian drone struck the connecting gallery several meters from the reactor compartment of the third power unit of the Zaporozhye NPP. As a result, the plant lost external power supply for an hour," the diplomat said.

"We emphasize that this was another targeted strike on infrastructure supporting the operation of the Zaporozhye NPP and an attempt to threaten the plant’s physical nuclear safety. We expect an appropriate response from the international community and relevant specialized organizations," he added.

According to the Zaporozhye NPP Telegram channel, such actions create additional risks to nuclear safety and once again demonstrate that "attacks are no longer being carried out around the perimeter of the plant but in the immediate vicinity of facilities critical for its safe operation." The statement noted that despite provocations by Kiev, Zaporozhye NPP personnel continue to monitor all safety parameters.
