Russia remains among global leaders in AI development race — Kremlin
Dmitry Peskov recalled that several companies are working on artificial intelligence in Russia, each utilizing its own approach
SOLNECHNOGORSK /Moscow Region/, July 27. /TASS/. Russia is among the global leaders in the artificial intelligence development race, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the Territory of Meanings forum.
"We remain among the top five countries participating in the race," he noted, speaking about AI development.
Peskov recalled that several companies are working on artificial intelligence in Russia, each utilizing its own approach.
"GigaChat started from scratch. From the absolute ground up, it began building a model that is currently developing. Yandex took a different path: it decided to take the first stepping stone from abroad and build a sovereign, domestic system on top of it. They are competing domestically," the Kremlin spokesman said.
While Russian systems cannot yet compete with leading US large language models, they are "at a very high level of development," Peskov stated. "And I hope that we will close this gap," he added.
