Moscow to answer Romania's expulsion of Russian diplomat — spokeswoman
According to Maria Zakharova, Bucharest's accusations are baseless
MOSCOW, July 27. /TASS/. Moscow will give a due answer to the expulsion of a Russian embassy staffer from Romania, the Russian foreign ministry’s official spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, has told TASS.
"Accusations of the Romanians are baseless, and their claims are not justified. These unfriendly steps will receive a due answer," she said.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry of Romania said in a statement it had summoned Russian Ambassador Vladimir Lipaev in connection with "repeated violations of Romania’s airspace between July 24 and 26, 2026, when the Romanian army shot down three drones that had entered the national territory without permission." The Russian diplomatic envoy received a verbal note demanding that one of the Russian diplomats should leave the country within five days. Romania has also recalled its ambassador from Moscow to Bucharest for consultations.
