Rumors about another round of forced mobilization due in Russia this fall that are being spread by Vladimir Zelensky and others have no truth to them, looking more like some kind of drug-induced fever dream than reality, Andrey Kartapolov (United Russia), chairman of the State Duma’s Defense Committee, told Vesti.

When asked to comment on the reports, he replied "I don’t have anything to comment about these rumors."

"I heard that Zelensky said something on the subject. However, I can only attribute this to his possible misuse of some substances over the weekend, which made his hallucinations even more unhinged," the lawmaker said.

Kartapolov explained that contract service remains the main method of recruiting service members for the Russian armed forces, and, therefore, there is no need for mobilization.

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters in March that a new wave of mobilization in Russia is not planned, and "there is no such topic on the agenda."
