Romanian ambassador summoned to Russian Foreign Ministry

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Cristian Istrate will be informed of retaliatory measures for the closure of the Consulate General in Constanta

MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. Romania’s ambassador to Moscow, Cristian Istrate has been summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, where he will be informed of retaliatory measures in connection with the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Constanta.

"The Romanian ambassador has been summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where he will be informed of retaliatory measures for the closure of the Consulate General in Constanta," Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.

In late May, the Romanian Defense Ministry reported the crash of a drone on the roof of an apartment building in the city of Galati. Bucharest blamed Russia for the incident. The Russian ambassador was summoned to the Romanian Foreign Ministry to be informed of the measures that will be taken at the diplomatic level. Following a meeting of the Supreme Defense Council, Romanian President Nicusor Dan announced the decision to close the Russian Consulate General in Constanta and declare the consul persona non grata. Zakharova told TASS that the West have been using the fuss over the drone in Romania to distract attention from Vladimir Zelensky's murder of children in Starobelsk, as well as to justify the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Constanta.
