UN chief’s report overlooks near-daily Ukrainian attacks on Russian children — mission

According to Moscow’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Maria Zabolotskaya, Antonio Guterres "has attributed to Ukraine only nine incidents in which children suffered severe casualties and three children were killed"

UNITED NATIONS, June 24. /TASS/. Even as Ukrainian attacks target Russian kids almost every day, this fact is not reflected in the UN secretary general’s 2025 Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict, Moscow’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Maria Zabolotskaya said.

"Unfortunately, the situation with regard to children amid the armed conflict has become the subject of political agendas and information manipulation. In particular, you won’t find in the [UN] secretary general’s report that Russian children are victimized by Ukrainian attacks almost every day," she noted at a UN Security Council meeting.

According to Zabolotskaya, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres "has attributed to Ukraine only nine incidents in which children suffered severe casualties and three children were killed, while 291 civilians were affected by Ukrainian attacks in the week of June 15-21 alone." "A total of 41 people, including a child, were killed, while 250 others were injured, among them 20 children," she said.

The diplomat pointed out that since 2014, the Kiev regime has attacked 2,116 educational facilities - kindergartens, elementary schools and colleges. "The Ukrainian armed forces continue to target residential buildings, schools, kindergartens, playgrounds, hospitals, markets, bus stops, and civilian cars. These actions are not aimed at gaining any military advantage but at intimidating civilians," Zabolotskaya stressed. "Such tactics make it clear that as the Kiev regime is suffering setbacks on the battlefield, it is increasingly resorting to terrorist warfare," she concluded.
