Ukrainian strikes kill over 50 civilians in past week, says Russian diplomat
The majority of casualties were reported in the Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics, as well as in the Belgorod and Zaporozhye regions, Rodion Miroshnik said
LUGANSK, May 26. /TASS/. Over 50 civilians, including a child, were killed in Ukrainian attacks on Russian regions in the past week, and almost 200 people suffered injuries, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik told TASS.
"Attacks by Ukrainian Nazis affected a total of 250 civilians last week: 199 people, including 20 minors, were injured, and 51 people, among them one minor, were killed. <...> The majority of casualties were reported in the Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics, as well as in the Belgorod and Zaporozhye regions," he specified.
Miroshnik pointed out that 228 people - 91% of all casualties - had suffered injuries in drone attacks.
According to the diplomat, Ukrainian forces deliberately targeted medical vehicles, violating international humanitarian law. In particular, an ambulance driver was injured in an FPV strike along a highway in the Belgorod Region.
In addition, Ukrainian troops continued to lay mines in Russian regions remotely. "In the Belgorod Region, doctors were unable to save a civilian who had lost both feet after stepping on an explosive device in the village of Vozensenovka. In the DPR cities of Gorlovka and Donetsk, three civilians suffered injuries, and another civilian was reported injured in the Kursk Region," Miroshnik added.
The enemy launched 4,300 projectiles at Russian territory in the past seven days, he concluded.
