Russia ratifies treaty on closer cooperation with South Ossetia
The two countries will take measures to harmonize the labor, social protection, and retirement benefits law, including on the issue of mutual recognition of work record
MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law ratifying a treaty stipulating closer allied cooperation with South Ossetia.
The treaty was signed in Moscow on May 9, 2026. It provides for closer cooperation in various spheres to pursue shared international and defense policies, improve the socio-economic environment, and develop infrastructure. The two countries will take measures to harmonize the labor, social protection, and retirement benefits law, including on the issue of mutual recognition of work record.
The two countries will also work to create favorable conditions for investors from Russia and South Ossetia, encouraging investments to infrastructure, industry, the energy and farming sectors. Apart from that, they plan to unify their energy, transport, communications, and telecom systems, and recognize documents issued in their territories.
