Russia holds intensive consultations on OPCW visiting country — envoy

Vladimir Tarabrin emphasized that the Russian side expects the OPCW Technical Secretariat to act with objectivity and due professionalism in full accordance with its mandate

MOSCOW, April 29. /TASS/. Moscow is engaged in intensiveconsultations regarding a potential visit by Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) experts to Russia, Ambassador to The Hague and Permanent Representative to the OPCW Vladimir Tarabrin said during an online briefing.

"We are currently holding intensive consultations with the [OPCW] Technical Secretariat to coordinate all organizational and technical details of a potential visit by its experts to Russia," the diplomat noted.

"We are providing detailed explanations in response to the [Technical Secretariat’s] clarifying questions; we are receiving a great many such questions. Nevertheless, we expect that the OPCW experts will still come to Russia and will be able to personally verify the accuracy of the information we provide, compile a substantive and professional report, and the quality of this document will be the measure of their impartiality," Tarabrin added.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Russian side expects the OPCW Technical Secretariat to act with objectivity and due professionalism in full accordance with its mandate.
