Duma speaker arrives in North Korea on working visit
The Chairman of the State Duma will take part in the opening ceremony of the memorial complex and the Museum of Military Heroism of the Heroes of the Foreign Military Operation
PYONGYANG, April 25. /TASS/. Speaker of Russia’s State Duma, the lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, has arrived on a working visit to North Korea, where he will take part in the opening ceremony of a memorial complex and museum dedicated to the heroic deeds of soldiers in overseas military operations, honoring the courage of Korean servicemen who took part in the liberation of the Kursk Region, the Duma press service reported.
"State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin has arrived in the DPRK on a working visit. He was met at the aircraft steps by Jo Yong-won, Chairman of the Assembly of the Supreme People’s Assembly of North Korea," the statement reads.
The press service clarified that, on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Volodin will take part on April 26 in the grand opening ceremony of a memorial complex and museum dedicated to the heroic deeds of soldiers in overseas military operations, honoring the courage of Korean soldiers who participated in the liberation of the Kursk Region. The State Duma chairman’s visit will also include meetings with colleagues from the North Korean parliament.
