Russia, Egypt have strategic alignment of approaches to Middle East crisis — Lavrov
"Despite inevitable nuances, the overarching direction of Russia's and Egypt's foreign policy is rooted in engaging conflicting parties through dialogue in any crisis," the Russian foreign minister said
MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. Moscow and Cairo share a strategic alignment in their approach to the Middle East, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated during a press conference following discussions with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
"Daily, we witness alarming news from the Persian Gulf, the Arabian Peninsula, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and other conflict zones addressed today," Lavrov emphasized. "Despite inevitable nuances, the overarching direction of Russia's and Egypt's foreign policy is rooted in engaging conflicting parties through dialogue in any crisis."
He acknowledged the challenges inherent in this approach, noting, "Occasionally, deep-seated contradictions - often exacerbated by external forces - make it extremely difficult to establish communication or progress toward de-escalation."
