Russia resorts to preventive measures to provide security under present-day conditions

According to Yury Kokov, it is an unprecedented moment in the world history when so many military-technical forces and financial resources have been combined "to wage an undeclared war with one state"

MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. Russia resorts to preventive measures to ensure its security under unprecedented pressure, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Yury Kokov said in an interview with the Rossiiskaya Gazeta government daily on Wednesday.

According to him, it is an unprecedented moment in the world history when so many military-technical forces and financial resources have been combined "to wage an undeclared war with one state."

"Under the unprecedented external pressure, we are forced to resort to preventive retaliatory measures," Kokov noted. "Necessary adjustments have been introduced to the nuclear doctrine, and the tasks of increasing the combat capability of our armed forces, including strategic forces, are being solved at a high tempo. The country's economic and military-industrial potential is growing dynamically."

He pointed out that despite the persisting difficulties, Russia upholds the pace of developments in the social sphere, "the construction of housing and life support facilities, improvement of the quality of medical and educational services, the introduction of up-to-date technologies and innovations in various areas of life."

Kokov also noted that the Western establishment was ready to resort literally to anything in an attempt to keep its dominance and its tools have lately acquired radical forms that fall under the definition of international terrorism.

Amid the current crisis of the US monetary system and Europe’s economic stagnation, the exacerbation of social and humanitarian problems, "real pre-requisites have emerged for the loss of their dominance in the world," Kokov stressed.

"In order to prevent this scenario, the Western establishment is ready literally for anything. Amid growing ambitions, greed and confidence in their impunity, their actions become increasingly dangerous and unceremonious. Neglect of the norms and principles of international law, economic expansion and diplomacy with weapons in their hands have become normal practice," he added.
