According to Dmitry Peskov, the head of state is discussing this issue with both the government and the Central Bank

MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin is keeping his finger on the pulse and discussing the budget deficit and its financing with the government and the Central Bank, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"The President is keeping his finger on the pulse and is discussing this issue with both the government and the Central Bank," Peskov said, answering a relevant question.

Russia’s federal budget revenues from the oil and gas sector amounted to 393 bln rubles ($5.1 bln) in January 2026, which is 50.2% lower than in the same period last year, the Finance Ministry reported earlier. In this regard, the government and the Central Bank are discussing ways to finance the emerging budget deficit, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Wednesday.
