MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. Russia calls for ending the trade, economic and financial blockade of Cuba, a high-ranking Russian foreign ministry official said.

"The Russian side supports Havana in its legitimate demands for an immediate end to the US trade, economic, and financial blockade, which has been in place for over 60 years. On October 29, 2025, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling on the United States to end its economic, commercial, and financial embargo against Cuba, which was imposed bypassing the United States and violates its Charter. This resolution once again reflects the widespread international condemnation of the US's unilateral coercive measures aimed at strangling the Cuban economy," Kirill Logvinov, director of the ministry’s international organizations department, told TASS.

He also pointed to the United States’ interference into the domestic affairs of Venezuela and Cuba. "An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council was held several days after the United States’ incursion in Venezuela. Practically all the countries, except a few Western nations, agreed that this was an act of aggression that violated international law and the UN Charter. The UN Secretary General emphasized the inadmissibility of the use of force by one state against another," he stated.
