Guterres' claim that Donbass does not have right to self-determination is wrong — Kremlin
Dmitry Peskov stressed that Moscow has its own well-reasoned position, which is well known to all
MOSCOW, January 30. /TASS/. The Kremlin considers UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' conclusion that Donbass, unlike Greenland, does not have the right to self-determination is wrong, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media.
"We consider such conclusions deeply flawed from the standpoint of international law," Peskov stated. "We disagree with these conclusions and have our own well-reasoned position, which is well known to all," the Kremlin spokesman stated.
Earlier, Guterres, responding to a TASS question, stated that the UN Secretariat had concluded that the right of peoples to self-determination was inapplicable in the situations of Crimea and Donbass. According to him, the UN Secretariat believes that in these situations, "the principle of territorial integrity prevails" over the right of peoples to self-determination.
