Kiev responds to all peace initiatives with shelling, terrorist attacks — Russian diplomat
Rodion Miroshnik noted that the intensity of attacks and the number of civilian casualties from Ukrainian strikes "have grown exponentially and are directly related to the intensification of the peacekeeping process"
MOSCOW, January 30. /TASS/. The Kiev regime has responded to every new peace initiative to resolve the Ukrainian conflict with increased shelling of Russian territory and new terrorist attacks, Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry on the crimes of the Kiev regime has told a news briefing.
He noted that the intensity of attacks and the number of civilian casualties from Ukrainian strikes "have grown exponentially and are directly related to the intensification of the peacekeeping process."
"Kiev responded to every new initiative to find settlement options with increased shelling of civilian targets or new terrorist attacks," Miroshnik emphasized.
March 2025 was the worst month in terms of casualties, followed by May and July.
"In March, Kiev responded to the restoration of communication and the initial peacekeeping initiatives that emerged in the dialogue between the presidents of Russia and the United States with increased bombardments. In March, the number of civilian casualties reached 636, including 117 fatalities," the diplomat noted.
The increase in attacks on civilians in July and May 2025 "can be seen as an attempt to create a provocative backdrop for the second and third meetings of the Istanbul negotiating format to resolve the conflict," Miroshnik believes.
