MELITOPOL, January 30. /TASS/. The next rotation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is expected in February. If a decision is made on IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi’s trip to the plant, ZNPP is ready to host him, Yevgeniya Yashina, the nuclear facility's communications director, told TASS.

On December 25, 2025, Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev announced that the next interagency talks between the Russian side and IAEA head Rafael Grossi could take place in February 2026. The last consultations between Likhachev and Grossi took place on November 14, 2025, in Kaliningrad; they were the seventh.

"The IAEA typically rotates every two months. The last one was in December. We expect another rotation in February. There is no information yet regarding Mr. Grossi's trip to the Zaporozhye NPP, but we are ready to host him at the plant if the appropriate decision is made," Yashina said.

Grossi has personally visited the Zaporozhye NPP several times during IAEA expert rotations. The last rotation took place on December 3, 2025. The agency’s monitors have been working at the Zaporozhye NPP since September 1, 2022.

The ZNPP earlier reported that the 2026 maintenance campaign has begun at the plant under the supervision of IAEA inspectors, which is important for ensuring the work transparency and compliance with international nuclear safety standards. Key equipment, including safety systems, will be serviced and overhauled, as well as a comprehensive assessment of the power units' condition in preparation for their service life extension will be made.
