Kremlin expects to hold Russia-Arab summit in November — Kremlin aide
The date will be set depending on what "our Arab friends recommend," Yury Ushakov added
DUSHANBE, October 10. /TASS/. The Russia-Arab summit, originally planned for October in Moscow, may now take place in November. The Kremlin preliminarily expects to hold the previously postponed event specifically in that month, Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov said in an interview with the Yunashev Live publication.
"We are currently thinking preliminarily about November – depending on how the situation evolves in the context of implementing [US President Donald] Trump’s plan and so on," the Kremlin representative noted.
The date will be set depending on what "our Arab friends recommend," Ushakov added. "We will take all viewpoints into account," he assured.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the current chairman of the Arab League summit, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammed Shia al-Sudani, in a telephone conversation agreed it was appropriate to postpone the Russian-Arab summit scheduled for October 15. The sides agreed that, due to the active phase of implementation of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan having begun, many Arab state leaders that had been invited to attend the summit would find it difficult under the circumstances to travel to Moscow in person.
In May, Putin invited all the leaders of the League of Arab States (LAS) to the summit. He expressed confidence that the Russian-Arab meeting will facilitate further strengthening of mutually beneficial multifaceted cooperation among the countries and help support peace, security, and stability in regions of the Middle East and North Africa. He noted that the majority of Arab leaders had accepted the invitation.
