DUSHANBE, October 9. /TASS/. The Russian side is upbeat ahead of today’s meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"An agreement has been reached for the two presidents to meet today. Let’s see what the results of this meeting are. And we are upbeat here as the [two] presidents will hopefully discuss the current situation in bilateral relations and address the problem points that we are facing," Peskov shared.

The Russian presidential spokesman described a phone conversation held between Putin and Aliyev on October 7 as "positive and constructive."
