Kremlin says no plans for talks with Kiev on suspending attacks on civilian targets
Responding to a question about the likelihood of attacks on civilian facilities being halted, Dmitry Peskov noted that first, "this issue must be discussed taking into account the experience of the Easter truce"
MOSCOW, April 22. /TASS/. There is no dialogue between Moscow and Kiev about suspending attacks on civilian facilities, as Russian President Vladimir is the only one who has expressed interest in talking about this issue, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"There are no concrete plans. What we have is President Putin’s confirmed readiness to discuss the matter in light of the recent Easter truce. But there are no concrete plans yet," the spokesman pointed out.
Responding to a question about the likelihood of attacks on civilian facilities being halted, Peskov noted that first, "this issue must be discussed taking into account the experience of the Easter truce." "First of all, this should be discussed, and President Putin has expressed his readiness to do so. But we need to understand whether the Ukrainian side is ready for it," the Kremlin spokesman emphasized.
Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier told the media that the notion of stopping attacks on civilian infrastructure facilities must be considered. "This is a matter that requires careful consideration, perhaps even in a bilateral format," the president said.
In turn, Peskov clarified that Putin would like to discuss the suspension of attacks on civilian facilities directly with the Ukrainian side. "When the president said that it is necessary to discuss the suspension of attacks on civilian facilities, including in bilateral contacts, he meant direct talks with the Ukrainian side," the Kremlin spokesman said.
