Medvedev suggests using laser systems for defense against drones

The official emphasized that the enemy remained highly active in using drones to attack various targets, including civilian infrastructure, despite ongoing negotiations

MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy head of Russia’s Security Council, has proposed the deployment of highly effective air defense systems, including those based on new physical principles, to protect against drone attacks.

"Recently, we have been introduced to products and solutions - commonly referred to as innovations based on new physical principles. Specifically, I am referring to laser weapon systems designed to target small objects," Medvedev stated during a visit to the Central Federal District. He emphasized that the enemy remained highly active in using drones to attack various targets, including civilian infrastructure, despite ongoing negotiations. "To ensure effective defense, it is imperative to deploy highly efficient air defense systems as soon as possible, especially those that utilize these new physical principles," he added.

Addressing the participants, Medvedev urged a discussion on the necessary steps to achieve this goal. "This task involves not only production but also the development of the required regulatory framework," he noted.
