Ukraine continues attacks on Russian energy facilities — deputy PM

Alexander Novak emphasized that Russia certainly requires additional efforts to restore the facilities that suffered damage from the strikes

MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. Ukraine has been continuing strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, despite the agreement to halt such attacks, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told journalists.

According to him, attacks on Russian infrastructure are not limited just by the ones against the Sudzha gas metering station or the sites of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). The deputy PM noted that there are still strikes being carried out on smaller substations and gas pumping stations not related to the export of energy.

"Despite all the discussions regarding the ceasefire, the Ukrainian side is so far still conducting attacks on our energy facilities, our energy infrastructure," he said.

Novak emphasized that Russia certainly requires additional efforts to restore the facilities that suffered damage from the strikes. "But in general, the energy industry continues to operate normally and to both reliably supply gas and provide consumers with electricity," he noted.

On March 25, the Kremlin released on its website the list of Russian and Ukrainian sites covered by a temporary moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure, agreed between Moscow and Washington. The moratorium is in effect for thirty days from March 18 and may be extended by a mutual agreement. Violation of the moratorium by either party in Russia or Ukraine automatically terminates its effect.
