The victory in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War is a unifying theme for the CSTO member states, Mikael Agasandyan said

MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. Russia anticipates officials of all member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to participate in the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9, Mikael Agasandyan, director of the First Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said.

"We expect that all heads of the CSTO countries, along with national military contingents, will accept Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invitation and join the Victory Parade on Red Square on May 9," the diplomat stated.

The victory in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War is a unifying theme for the CSTO member states, Agasandyan said in an interview with the Soyuzniki. ODKB (Allies. CSTO) news outlet. "We are unanimous in the belief that we must oppose misinterpreting the root causes of the conflict that became the bloodiest in the history of mankind and claimed the lives of tens of millions of our citizens; that we must not allow belittling the pivotal role of the peoples of the Soviet Union in freeing the world from Nazi enslavement. The relevant approach was outlined in the CSTO statement adopted last November," Agasandyan noted.

Russia's firm stance against the revival of Nazism is shared by the overwhelming part of the world community, which is evidenced by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly adopting a resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism in December 2024, Agasandyan said. "Together with our allies, we will also have to ensure a deserving international accompaniment of the anniversary of the Victory on the UN platform to pay tribute to all victims of the war," he said. "We will continue to seek recognition of the crimes of the Nazi invaders and their accomplices against the civilian population as genocide of the peoples of the Soviet Union," the diplomat concluded.
