MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. The assault by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that occurred overnight on February 26 has become the largest since the start of the year, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
The ministry stated that 128 Ukrainian drones were destroyed overnight in Russian regions. The last attack of this magnitude took place on January 24, when air defenses shot down 121 Ukrainian UAVs.

Statements by Russia’s Defense Ministry
- Air defense forces have destroyed 128 Ukrainian UAVs above Russian regions over the past night, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
- According to the agency, 83 drones were shot down over the Krasnodar Region, 30 over the Republic of Crimea, eight over the Azov Sea, five over the Black Sea, and one each over the Bryansk and Kursk Regions.
Aftermath of attack
- Debris from a drone struck a gas pipe in the settlement of Verkhnebakansky near the city of Novorossiysk, the crisis center of the Krasnodar Region reported on its Telegram channel.
- A fire broke out. As of now, the fire has been extinguished.
- A nearby house also suffered damage.
- Special services are working at the site.
- A local state of emergency has been introduced to assist in the recovery of damaged property.
Reaction
- Another massive Ukrainian drone attack on Russian civilian facilities shows Vladimir Zelensky’s intention to disrupt the peaceful settlement of the conflict, according to Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large Rodion Miroshnik.
