TEHRAN, February 25. /TASS/. The domestic political situation in Syria remains difficult as attempts to push certain regions of the country towards separatism are very dangerous, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

"The situation is not easy there as contradictions remain, including those that sometimes lead to armed clashes, and we [Russia] will do everything to help the situation stabilize so that it creates no more threats to the Syrian people. For us, their future is extremely important," he pointed out at a press conference following talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

"In this regard, Syria’s territorial integrity is crucial and any attempts to push some regions of the country towards separatism, which we have seen in recent years, are absolutely unacceptable and highly dangerms," Lavrov added.

The top Russian diplomat also noted that during the talks, Russia and Iran had confirmed their "mutual determination to continue coordinating both countries’ approaches in order to ensure lasting peace [in Syria] and stability in the country through the participation of all political, ethnic and religious forces."

"It’s extremely important to ensure the inclusivity of stabilization processes in Syria," Lavrov emphasized. "We will look forward to the outcome of the national dialogue conference, which kicked off today and is set to discuss the goals of the further development of the Syrian state," he stressed.
