"Of course, such a prompt reaction from the head of state appeals to us," Dmitry Peskov noted

MOSCOW, February 25. /TASS/. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s prompt response to his country’s accidental vote in favor of an anti-Russian UN resolution appeals with Moscow, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Russia understands that it was a genuine mistake, he said at a briefing in response to a TASS question.

"Certainly, we have heard it and taken note of it," he said, when asked if the Kremlin had taken note of Vucic’s apology. "Technical mistakes do happen," Peskov noted.

"Of course, such a prompt response from the head of state appeals to us," he added.

On Monday, the United Nations General Assembly voted for an anti-Russian draft resolution on Ukraine, which, as always, ignored the root causes of the conflict. Contrary to its usual practice, Serbia also voted in favor of the document. Vucic later said that it was a mistake and stressed that the country had been expected to abstain from voting. The Serbian leader took the blame and apologized to the country’s people.
