Top Russian diplomat praises Moscow-Beijing cooperation as 'exemplary'
Sergey Lavrov emphasized that bilateral relations between Russia and China are now at an unprecedentedly high, advanced level
MOSCOW, February 19. /TASS/. Foreign policy cooperation between Russia and China is practically exemplary, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the State Duma.
"We can talk about foreign policy cooperation for a long time, but I think it is practically exemplary," he said.
The top Russian diplomat emphasized that bilateral relations between Russia and China are now at an unprecedentedly high, advanced level. "And in their essence and content, of course, they far exceed the concept of 'union' as it existed both during the Cold War and in the post-Cold War period. Relations of an absolutely new type, equal, mutually beneficial," he said.
According to Lavrov, there is no sphere of life in which Russia and China do not have mechanisms for coordinating joint steps.
In addition to economic, trade and logistic cooperation, Russia and China are actively developing cultural, humanitarian and educational ties, the Russian foreign minister emphasized. He cited the example of the soon-to-be-released film ‘Red Silk,’ which was produced by representatives of both countries.
"Humanitarian issues, concerts, cultural exchanges - all this enriches and makes our relations, puts these relations on a very solid foundation of everyday life of ordinary people," Lavrov said.
