MOSCOW, February 7. /TASS/. The Kremlin considers the closure of the Russian information and cultural center (the Russian House) in Baku a misunderstanding and hopes to resolve the situation, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

"We regret that this happened. We believe that this is a misunderstanding, which will be resolved through bilateral contacts," he said.

Peskov noted that Moscow will "address these issues through a dialogue based on traditionally cordial relations" with Baku.

On February 3, Azerbaijan sent a note on the cessation of the Russian House's activity due to its lack of registration as a legal entity. The head of Russia's Agency for International Humanitarian Cooperation, Yevgeny Primakov, confirmed that the cultural center in Baku had received a note from Azerbaijan regarding the need for official registration. He also said that the Russian House in Azerbaijan should vacate the rented premises within a month and a half in connection with the landlord's statement about plans to sell it in the near future. The Russian House refrained from any comments on the situation. So far, the center continues its operations.
