Moscow to retaliate expulsion of Russian diplomat from London — foreign ministry to TASS
Previously, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development office said in a statement it had revoked a Russian diplomat’s accreditation
MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS/. Russia will retaliate the expulsion of a Russian diplomat from London, TASS has learned from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"There will be a response," the ministry said.
Previously, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development office said in a statement it had revoked a Russian diplomat’s accreditation. According to the statement, the move came in retaliation for Russia’s expulsion of a UK diplomat last November.
The Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) reported in November 2024 that the second secretary of the political department of the UK Embassy in Moscow, Wilkes Edward Pryor, who replaced one of the six British intelligence officers working at the embassy before being expelled in August, has also been stripped of his diplomatic accreditation. He was given two weeks to leave Russia.
The UK Foreign Office dismissed the accusations as baseless and vowed to retaliate. The Russian ministry promised a tit-for-tat response if London chooses to escalate the situation any further.
