Putin begins talks with Tajik leader
As Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov announced, "pressing issues in the sphere of migration will be discussed"
ST. PETERSBURG, December 24. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding talks with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon.
It is anticipated that the two leaders will discuss the key tracks of cooperation in political, trade and economic, military-technical and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Separate attention will be given to pertinent regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.
As Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov announced, "pressing issues in the sphere of migration will be discussed." The presidents will also review their joint work in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) - Russia was chairing the organization in 2024 with Tajikistan taking over in 2025.
The talks are taking place at the Igora resort in the Leningrad Region. Today’s events include a one-on-one conversation and a working dinner.
The last time Putin and Rahmon met at a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Astana in November. They have been meeting regularly both one-on-one and at multilateral venues. Additionally, the two leaders sometimes hold phone conversations.
