MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Israel is the main beneficiary of the events afoot in Syria, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

"The main beneficiary of the events taking place in Syria, the main beneficiary, in my opinion, is Israel," he pointed out at a combined year-end question-and-answer session and press conference.

At the same time, Putin emphasized that Russia was for the observance of international law and sovereignty.
