No military logic behind Ukraine’s attack on Kursk Region — Putin
Many experts have noted that Ukraine’s "operation" in the Kursk Region is ambiguous in its nature
MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Ukraine’s incursion into Russia’s borderline Kursk Region makes no sense from a military-strategic point of view, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"There was no military sense in attacking the Kursk Region, nor in remaining there now, as they are sending their best assault groups and units to the slaughter there," he said at his combined annual press conference and question-and-answer session.
Many experts have noted that Ukraine’s "operation" in the Kursk Region is ambiguous in its nature. Thus, Ukrainian army General Dmitry Marchencko said that the invasion into the Kursk Region lacked a clear objective, despite the fact that it involved the best units of the Ukrainian army. He resigned after making this statement. According to Europe’s Politico news outlet, Ukraine’s former army commander-in-chief, Valery Zaluzhny, strongly objected to invading Russian territory, citing an absence of clear guidance from Vladimir Zelensky about the army’s actions after the border was breached.
Russia’s borderline Kursk Region came under a massive attack from Ukraine on August 6. A federal state of emergency is in effect in the region. People are being evacuated from border areas. According to the Russian defense ministry, Kiev’s overall losses in the Kursk Region stand at over 41,800 troops and 244 tanks. Russian forces continue operations to eliminate Ukrainian troops.
