Russia open to reviewing Trump’s proposals on Ukraine — senior diplomat

According to Sergey Ryabkov, Russia sees no alternative to the core principles for resolution that have been repeatedly articulated by Russian President Vladimir Putin

MOSCOW, December 11. /TASS/. Russia has expressed its willingness to consider potential proposals for resolving the Ukraine crisis if they are presented by the incoming administration of the United States’ next president, Donald Trump. However, this does not mean that Moscow would necessarily agree to them, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters.

"If the next US administration demonstrates a commitment to addressing this issue and presents specific proposals, our side will naturally remain open to reviewing them. However, a willingness to review does not equate to agreement," he clarified.

According to Ryabkov, Russia sees no alternative to the core principles for resolution that have been repeatedly articulated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The initiatives proposed by the global majority, including those from China and Brazil, also have their shortcomings," the diplomat noted. "While these are not perfect solutions, we appreciate efforts by reasonable actors to contribute their perspectives. This stands in stark contrast to the utterly irrational ideas emanating from Kiev," he concluded.
