Israeli attacks on Syria do not contribute to country's stabilization — Kremlin
"Launching strikes or conducting hostilities near the Golan Heights, near the buffer zone, will hardly contribute to stabilizing the situation in the already destabilized Syria," Dmitry Peskov said
MOSCOW, December 11. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov questions how Israel's latest actions in the demilitarized buffer zone near the Golan Heights will help stabilize the situation in Syria.
"Certainly, launching strikes or conducting hostilities near the Golan Heights, near the buffer zone, will hardly contribute to stabilizing the situation in the already destabilized Syria," he told reporters.
On Sunday morning, the Israeli military said it had seized the buffer zone in the Golan Heights, established under an armistice signed between Israel and Syria in 1974. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed the move was defensive, and that the deployment is temporary. Ever since, Israeli air strikes on Syrian territory have been reported. The Israeli military has not yet officially commented on these actions.
Israeli Army Radio, or Galei Tzahal, reported that as of December 10, Israel had struck over 250 military targets in the Arab republic since its government was toppled.
