"Information obtained by the SVR reveals that the EU is increasingly treating Moldova as its vassal," the statement reads

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Janis Mazeiks, the head of the EU mission in Moldova, reportedly urged Chisinau to prosecute the leaders of the opposition Victory Bloc, along with the Revival and Chance parties, a statement from Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) press office said.

"In the worst traditions of colonialism, Mazeiks demanded that the Moldovan side, 'under any pretext,' bring the leaders of the opposition Victory bloc, as well as the Revival and Chance parties, to criminal accountability. The goal is to suppress their political activity," the SVR stated.

"The Moldovans have also been instructed to 'restore order' in Gagauzia by suspending the head of the autonomy, Evghenia Gutsul, and detaining key members of her team on criminal charges," the press office stated.

EU behavior

"Information obtained by the SVR reveals that the EU is increasingly treating Moldova as its vassal. This is evidenced by the 'behind closed doors' contacts between European bureaucrats and the Moldovan leadership," the statement reads. "The head of the EU Delegation in Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks, is known for his brazen behavior. He recently issued detailed instructions to the leadership of the ruling Action and Solidarity Party on how so-called Moldovan democracy should function in the lead-up to the parliamentary elections in 2025," the SVR added.

The press office also noted that the head of the EU mission set Chisinau "the task to provoke a split in the ranks of the left-wing opposition by stimulating contradictions between the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon, chairman of the Party of Communists Vladimir Voronin, and Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban.'" "During the upcoming election campaign, they should criticize each other, not the ruling party," the SVR pointed out.

"In a dictatorial manner, Mazeiks ordered the Moldovan leadership to facilitate the creation of a new pro-Western political party ‘For European Moldova’ under the leadership of former Foreign Minister Nicolae Popescu. The authorities should ensure its passage to parliament, where 'For European Moldova' and 'Action and Solidarity' will form a government coalition," the SVR noted. "Practice shows that the West’s blatant interference in the internal affairs of other states always results in destabilization and chaos," the press office added.

Disastrous influence

The SVR stressed that "the EU's damaging influence on Moldova has already led to a catastrophic polarization of the local society." "Thus, a time bomb has been laid to undermine Moldova's statehood," the SVR said.
