Russian Embassy in UK brands Starmer’s hints at talks on Ukraine as hypocritical
The Russian diplomatic mission stressed that "a genuine peace in Ukraine may be achieved exclusively by eradicating the crisis’ root causes, the shaping of which was greatly contributed to by the British and their allies
LONDON, December 3. /TASS/. Statements by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer about launching peace talks on Ukraine seem hypocritical considering the country continues to supply arms to the Kiev regime, a commentary by the Russian Embassy to the UK obtained by TASS said.
"As for semi-hints about the negotiating option in the context of the Ukrainian settlement allegedly voiced in Keir Starmer’s speech, according to the local media, they appear extremely hypocritical and cannot be trusted. It is enough to recall London’s ‘track record’ on Ukraine, including flooding the neo-Nazi Kiev regime with weapons and money, the participation of British instructors in organizing provocations and acts of sabotage against the Russian Armed Forces, the undermining of the spring 2022 peace talks by the irresponsible [former UK Prime Minister] Boris Johnson as well as the unwavering banking on the conflict’s escalation, even at the cost of creating unprecedented risks for European and international stability," the commentary reads.
The Russian diplomatic mission stressed that "a genuine peace in Ukraine may be achieved exclusively by eradicating the crisis’ root causes, the shaping of which was greatly contributed to by the British and their allies." "Above all, this is about reliably and comprehensively ensuring Russia’s security by demilitarizing and de-Nazifying Ukraine, guaranteeing its non-nuclear and neutral non-bloc status and the recognition of a new territorial reality. This is, certainly, incompatible with reports in the media about including Ukraine or its parts in NATO," the commentary noted.
