Russia hopes Trump administration will not incite war — history society head, negotiator
Vladimir Medinsky pointed out that this conflict could have been stopped as early as 2022 "had there had been common sense and good will of the Ukrainian side"
MOSCOW, December 2. /TASS/. Russia hopes that a future US Donald Trump-led administration will prefer "to preserve peace in the world rather than to incite war by pushing Ukraine towards self-annihilation," Vladimir Medinsky, Russian presidential aide and chairman of the Military Historical Society, has told the media.
"Of course, we hope that the new administration will approach this issue with the wish to preserve peace in the world and not to incite war by pushing Ukraine towards self-annihilation," Medinsky said, responding to a foreign journalist's question about whether Trump would be able to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
He pointed out that this conflict could have been stopped as early as 2022 "had there had been common sense and good will of the Ukrainian side."
Medinsky led the Russian delegation to the Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul in 2022.
