PYONGYANG, November 30. /TASS/. Ratification of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and North Korea reaffirms their commitment to the extensive development of allied relations, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov said during talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang.
"Ratification of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between our countries reaffirms bilateral interest in the extensive development of allied relations. We are grateful for the commitment to the course of deepening ties with Russia," he said.
According to the Russian defense minister, the history of combat brotherhood between the two countries spans nearly eight decades. He said the friendship and cooperation between the two countries were strengthened during the liberation of Korea in 1945 and in the battles of the Patriotic War of Liberation from 1950-1953.
Belousov said he was honored to meet with the North Korean leader in person.
"I thank you for the traditionally cordial welcome given to the Russian delegation," he said.
