No room for double standards in fight against terrorism, CSTO countries stress
"Support for or harboring terrorists must be firmly condemned by the entire international community," the document reads
ASTANA, November 28. /TASS/. Member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) have come out against the use of double standards in opposing terrorism, according to the Declaration of the CSTO Collective Security Council published on the Kremlin’s website.
"We emphasize that in the fight against terrorism, there is no room for double standards. Terrorism, whatever its shape or form, cannot be justified. Support for or harboring terrorists must be firmly condemned by the entire international community," the document reads.
CSTO countries also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and enhancing collective efforts to combat international terrorism, extremism, illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, illegal arms trafficking, illegal migration, as well as the protection of the population from natural and manmade disasters.
The declaration recognizes the importance of regularly carrying out special operations in the area of responsibility of the CSTO to counter illicit drug trafficking (Operation "Channel"), illegal migration (Operation "Illegal"), IT crimes (Operation "Proxy"), and counter-terrorist operation (Operation "Mercenary"), which have proved very effective over the years.
