West receives Putin’s message about weapons, Russian senate speaker says
Valentina Matviyenko said that it wasn’t an ultimatum or a threat, which is how Western media outlets tried to present the message
MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s message about weapons was received and understood by all those it was intended for, Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament) Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko said.
"Of course, everyone is aware that it’s a strong message. We have a clear understanding that the message was received and interpreted by all those it was intended for," she pointed out at a plenary session.
The Russian Senate speaker stressed that it wasn’t an ultimatum or a threat, which is how Western media outlets tried to present the message. "It’s a calm, substantiated, and balanced message from the leader of a global power, which was backed by action. Its main focus was on the points that are clear. First and foremost, our actions come in response to the West’s continued escalation and the steps that led to long-range missile attacks on Russian targets. We are warning that they are unacceptable," Matviyenko noted.
She also said that Russia was prepared for any developments. "We have a tool, namely super-weapons, to give a tangible and unavoidable response. It’s not us who’s escalating the situation, but unfortunately, we have to respond," the Federation Council chief stressed.
Besides, Matviyenko emphasized that in her view, the main thing was that the Russian president’s actions and statements carried huge potential "to tip the balance in favor of a peaceful way of resolving the conflict, ensuring unconditional respect for Russia’s interests," its security, and sovereignty. It is also "a warning that such a reckless escalation of tensions, which will never produce the desired results, is unacceptable," as Russia has demonstrated on the battlefield.
