According to Aide Yury Ushakov, the meeting will provide a chance to "exchange assessments on key international and regional issues, discuss the prospects for multifaceted cooperation within the CSTO, including through foreign ministries, defense ministries and security councils"
MOSCOW, November 26. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in the next session of the Collective Security Council on November 28 in Astana, his aide Yury Ushakov said.
The host of the summit, Kazakh President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, will also be joined by presidents Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan and Emomali Rakhmon of Tajikistan.
According to Ushakov, the meeting will provide a chance to "exchange assessments on key international and regional issues, discuss the prospects for multifaceted cooperation within the CSTO, including through foreign ministries, defense ministries and security councils."
"There will also be a recap of joint work done since the previous summit in Minsk and priority areas for further development of the CSTO will be outlined," the diplomat said.
"It is expected that pressing issues of the regional and international agenda will be discussed, taking into account the rising threats to stability in the organization's area of responsibility and adjacent areas, as well as the tasks of forming a new architecture of equal indivisible security in Eurasia," the aide went on to say.
Two meetings have been planned: one with restricted attendance, and the other in expanded format. At the first one - which is to be attended only by CSTO leaders - the only issue for discussion will pressing security issues.
"The most interesting thing is, of course, the informal discussion that is usually held after such meetings," the aide said.
The CSTO presidency will pass from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan in 2025, Ushakov said. Moscow "highly appreciates" Astana's achievements, according to the official. The priorities of Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship will be the subject of the expanded-format meeting of the Collective Security Council. CSTO’s documents will also be signed at the meeting.
