West wants to use Kalinousky Regiment to destabilize Belarus — Russian intelligence chief

MOSCOW, November 26. /TASS/. The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the British intelligence service MI-6 hope to use the Kalinousky Regiment group for destabilization in Belarus in view of the upcoming presidential election, the director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin told the 20th meeting of the heads of security agencies and intelligence services of the CIS member-states.

"The CIA and MI-6 expect to use collaborators from the Kalinousky Regiment to destabilize Belarus in the light of the upcoming presidential election next year," said Naryshkin.

He pointed out that now this nationalist group was fighting together with the Ukrainian army along with the Russian Volunteer Corps (recognized in Russia as a terrorist organization) and the Georgian Legion (the paramilitary group Georgian National Legion is blacklisted as terrorist and banned in Russia).

Earlier, the Supreme Court of Belarus recognized the extremist group Kalinousky Regiment as a terrorist organization. The Prosecutor General's Office said that this group was created in the spring of 2022 in Kiev, in particular, by former members of Belarusian radical nationalist groups and persons who took an active part in the mass riots in 2020-2021 in Belarus and eventually fled abroad.
