Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited his Tajik counterpart, Emomali Rakhmon, to take part in the events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II that will be held in Moscow on May 9, 2025, Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Semyon Grigoryev said.
"Just a few days ago, we handed over to the Tajik president, esteemed Emomali Rakhmon, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invitation to take part in the event on Red Square on May 9, 2025," he told TASS.
He recalled that Tajikistan will hold presidency in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) next year. "I think that the topic of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War (the Eastern Front during WWII where the former Soviet Union fought against Nazi Germany - TASS) will be discussed at a high level," the Russian diplomat added.
