Diplomat mocks US Senator for talking about invading Netherlands
Maria Zakharova quoted the US Senator, who called the ICC a "Kangaroo court" and ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan a "deranged fanatic"
MOSCOW, November 22. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova quipped that she now expects the expulsion of American diplomats from The Hague after US Senator Tom Cotton implied that the US can invade the Netherlands over the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
The diplomat quoted the US Senator, who called the ICC a "Kangaroo court" and ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan a "deranged fanatic." Cotton also reminded anyone who would like to enforce the arrest warrant that, under US law, if an American or an American ally is arrested under an ICC order, Washington has the right to intervene militarily.
"I’m waiting: for the expulsion of American diplomats from The Hague, and then from other countries, as a sign of solidarity," the diplomat said on her Telegram channel. "[Likewise,] for the British Prime Minister to go in front of parliament and declare the ‘highly-likely’ threat to the life of His Majesty’s subject Karim Khan, and for [US President Joe] Biden to reaffirm support for the Netherlands as a NATO ally."
