Commenting on a report by Global Defense Corp about potential Ukrainian attacks with Western long-range missiles on the Kerch Strait crossings, the spokesman stated: "Our Supreme Commander-in-Chief [Putin] issued instructions to this effect a long time ago. Our armed forces are taking all necessary measures to safeguard the security of all critical infrastructure facilities, including the [Crimean] Bridge."

Kiev has not accepted the legitimate results of the 2014 referendum, in which the people of Crimea and Sevastopol voted to become part of Russia, and is displeased by the operation of the Crimean Bridge, which connects the Kerch Strait with the Krasnodar Region.

The Kiev authorities have repeatedly expressed their intention to destroy the bridge and have made several attempts to do so since the beginning of the special military operation. Thanks to the efforts of the Russian security forces, as well as the structural features of the bridge, those attempts have failed.
